Hidden Rulers – Golden Dawn


Don’t get mistaken by the cover’s metal aesthetic – while it’s dark, brooding and iconoclastic, there are no guitars to be found here. Instead, Golden Dawn, released via experimental electronic label Vatican Analog offers crunchy minimal techno beats soaked in schizoid, echo-laden atmosphere. The mutated, distorted sounds crawl slowly across the barren mutant techno wasteland filled with remnants of those who tried, but couldn’t get to the end of the album. Like an Andy Stott jam heard from a mile away. Bleak, yet strangely compelling…
